You probably want to use a servo motor since you want to use a rheostat. Have a look at the MC33030 servo chip. It does everything and all you add is your motor, a feedback rheostat and your set rheostat. With proper gearing it will move almost anything with the added benefit the electric motor will auto correct if it gets bumped. Something the stepper motor will not do. Hope this helps.Good website.

Part of me was frustrated by the rabbit trail, butthen I thought about the serendipity we sometimes find down those trails.And I wondered if we sometimes moralize too much. We are quick to dismissall wandering and all discomfort as related to sin. I believe it has to do with the networking I am using… perhaps if I used bridged it would go away. I think it has to do with the NAT option I am using. It uses the VMware DNS service (VMware workstation) which really doesn’t resolve anything. I just though that I should still be able to resolve internally..

Awhile back youtube made some changes to their embedded player, I came to the blog and saw all the negative comments and they fixed the problem the next day. Youtube seems to listen to it's users so I'm hoping this new video player won't last long on the site. And if it does stay hopefully they'll do something to make it so people without widescreen monitors can watch the video without having to make it fullscreen.

Yes I’m the same, when people ask me what I do I speak about my day job and then I sometimes add something like “And I do a bit of acting and writing on the side, just for fun really”, I always seem to add the “just for fun” bit so that it doesn’t sound like some folly that I’m deluding myself about if that makes sense. I wish I could just say it more confidently. On my blog I state that I am an actor and writer, but in person I chicken out of it!

That's a smart way of thinking about it.

I had 4 classes in college taught with the Moore method, which pretty much demands an anemic class size. I wonder how those sorts of courses would factor in.More generally, is it actually more useful or desirable to teach small, focused classes in favor of large classes? Certainly students stand to gain from the increased attention and time for class interaction. I imagine that small classes might also be a delight for teachers in ways that large classes never could.

To think, I was confused a minute ago.

Depends on the character. I never dispatched without due consideration. Writers must give their characters that respect. Even so, sometimes I’m relieved. More often, I’ll be sad. Many tears have been shed for departed characters (not just in this series). But that’s good. After all, if a character’s death doesn’t affect the writer, what right does the writer have to expect that the audience will at all moved?Perhaps it’s a side-effect of growing up watching the original Star Trek series where anonymous “Red Shirts” would drop like flies. I never did like that.
