I know I'm coming to this thread late, but I thought I'd just offer another technique I learned from a costumer friend of mine. Fill a ziplock sandwich baggie about 1/3 full of water. Put it in the toe box of the shoe (assume that's what needs stretching) and put the shoe in the freezer. As the water freezes, it will expand and with it, the shoe.

I definitely agree that promoting a technique such as CT scanning to motivate people to quit smoking is quite ridiculous. But here's an anecdote that may be suggestive, I'm not sure of what. My father was a lifelong smoker until he was about 55, when a chest x-ray found a lesion which his doctor clearly thought was cancerous. It turned out to be scar tissue (too long a story to explain), but that week of waiting in terror to find out was enough for him. He quit cold turkey, and for good.I can't think of any way to create such experiences for people, or the equivalent, unfortunately. Oh well.

I believe I have found the problem that people are having with downloading the new youversion. The link that comes up in the version 1.0.3 sends you to download version 2.0. I did and came out with the same problem as other people did. So I googled “youversion 2.0″ and in my search, I found a “youversion 2.0.1″. I downloaded it and now it works great. I hope this helps.

That's a hard question. I have to say most of my favorite cookie recipes are family recipes past down. Best cookie tip. My girlfriend slightly under bakes her cookies, lets them cool on baking sheets, wraps them individually then freezes them. They are perfect for that sweet tooth, or lunches or drop by for coffee.

Two nurses were eating lunch in the nursing lounge reminiscing about a wonderful patient we took care of the year before; he was kind and cared for the nurses in our oncology unit. At that moment I picked up the newspaper and in the obituary section there was a message of gratitude post-dated from that patient. This was not funny but memorable.

I love all things SMASH! I own most of the book and have made my two sons and my MIL hooked. It is amazing to see two boys (ages 11 and 8), record their memories, likes and dislikes into a book. I especially love that when we go on vacation or even to the movie theater they will get memorabilia and say with excitement “for the smash book.” When I saw the 365 book I actually squealed with joy. Our stay at Jewel of the North was a delightful time. Rick & Linda made everything wonderful and beyond our expectations. The place is a picture perfect B & B. I highly recommend the Jewel of the North as a pleasant place to stay and enjoy the lake country of Minnesota.

I just painted the outside of my house this summer. It took me all summer, and when people asked if I wanted to go to the lake, I had to decline, because I had painting to do. But what a HUGE difference. I love the instant gratification paint gives and can’t wait to see your house transformed inside and out. (I can live vicariously and don’t have to paint more myself.)

I wouldn’t have a problem working on cigarette ads. Especially since they’ve introduced those tremendous ‘smoking kills’ warnings (or ‘smoking can be deadly’ in Germany). I love the American ones though: Surgeon General’s warning – cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide. (uh, ok.) Or: quitting smoking now greatly reduces serious risks to your health. (what about quitting smoking later? Or what was it like before?) I always thought product placement in movies was much more effective in getting people to start smoking anyway.

My parents were married at City Church in 1950 and I was baptized there three years later. We lived on Broadway just few blocks from the church. We were able to walk. The more languages are involved though, the less time you have for each one of them, and my advice is always to stick to one language, especially if you are not an experienced learner. ugh this is one of the reasons I stopped cosplaying and focussed on drawing as a way to express my fandom. I felt so intimidated by cosplayers that I thought were gorgeous and were trim that I thought made them so much more able to represent the character. I knew that people had these responses to larger cosplayers and the idea that I could put so much time an effort into a costume only to have my image ridiculed on someone’s website just crushed a lot of the joy out of it (not that I ever saw it happen but I tend to anticipate and be paranoid.)

She gets a regular filing box, labels it, and then puts everything pertaining to that project (clips, sketches, pieces of music) in the box. When she’s working on that project, she dives into the box. For those of us who are not „normal“ or „average“ it is much easier to find others like us than it would be offline. For the past 14+ years, all of those I admire and collaborate most closely with are located all over the world. The closest lives an hour away. Distance does not matter when your relationships are online.

The Nature article is very disturbing, Matt. A 2% risk of a life-threatening disaster is very high, to be frank. While I agree that these scientists were not lying and should not go to jail, it does appear that this situation was not handled properly. One can only hope that a higher court will overturn this verdict, and also that the worldwide disaster preparedness community will reflect on this failure and provide standardized unimpeachable protocols for how such risks should be adequately communicated in the future.
